How to Clean and Care for Your Astrid Schumacher Jewelry

At every show I attend, one of the questions I get asked most often is: “How should I clean my jewelry?” It’s a great question—especially because every piece I create is designed to last a lifetime when properly cared for.

My favorite way to keep your jewelry shining

For most pendants, I recommend using a high-quality jewelry cloth to gently polish the surface. My personal favorite (and the one I always keep on hand in the studio) is the Sunshine Polishing Cloth—it works beautifully on gold, silver, and bronze. You can find it easily on Amazon, and it’s worth every penny.

Simply rub your pendant lightly with the cloth until it regains its natural luster. Avoid using water, perfumes, or harsh chemicals, as they can dull the finish over time. If you live in a humid area—like here in San Miguel de Allende—you might notice your pieces lose their shine a little faster. That’s perfectly normal; humidity naturally affects metals, but it’s also easy to fix with a quick polish.

Everyday wear and care

All of my jewelry is crafted from high-quality materials, including triple 18K electroplated gold over brass, bronze, and sterling silver. These materials are durable and elegant, designed to stay beautiful through everyday life. You can wear your pieces while swimming, at the gym, or even in the pool—just be sure to rinse and dry them afterward for best results.

When you’re not wearing them, store your pieces in a soft pouch or jewelry box in a dry place. For an extra touch of love, wipe them occasionally with a soft cloth to remove oils and restore their sparkle.

With a little care, they’ll last forever

Each AstridSchumacher Design is created to be more than jewelry—it’s a small piece of art you can live in. With just a bit of care, your pendants will keep their beauty and shine for years (and years) to come.
